Playing with Plying (Weavers Guild of Minnesota)

We'll explore a variety of plied yarn structures, including chain plying, cable yarns, boucle and crepe yarns, along with variations on two- and three-ply basics. Whether you're struggling to figure out chain plying or a two-ply pro looking to explore new structures, this class is sure to inspire!

Grades 6-12. Learn the basics of tapestry weaving to create a modern-looking wall hanging. Pick your favorite colors and textures to make a one-of-a-kind weaving. Materials provided. This program is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Spinning Singles Yarn (Weavers Guild of Minnesota)

Made from just one ply, singles yarns are an essential part of any spinner’s repertoire. Join us as we explore four different approaches to the art and science of spinning singles: low twist, felted, core-spun, and energized singles. Together we will learn how to create singles yarns that can be used for everything from soft and squishy handknits, structural woven scarves, and yes, even as warp.
