Learn the process of creating color with natural materials using the abundance of dandelions that grow wild in May. We'll prepare fabric and yarn for natural dyeing before going on a nature walk in Powderhorn Park or the Midtown Greenway to gather dandelions to create our dye. This class is an excellent introduction to natural dyeing for textile newbies and experienced makers alike.
Saturday, May 27, 11:00, in a backyard near the northwest corner of Powderhorn Park (address will be emailed before class).
Registration is $25 per student plus a materials fee of $5. All class materials are provided by the instructor.
Accessibility: This class takes place in a backyard with slightly uneven ground. Seating is available in the backyard. The route of our nature walk will depend on where flowers are abundant, and will most likely be under 1.5 miles long. The walk will include a bathroom break at a public restroom. Otherwise, the only restroom available during class is on the third floor of a private residence, accessible by stairs. Masks will be required indoors (if applicable) and may be required outdoors if requested.
By registering for this class you are agreeing to abide by following class policies. Classes will have a minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 10 students. Classes that do not reach their registration minimums by 5:00 pm the day before class will be canceled and students will receive a refund within 14 days. If you are unable to attend class, you must cancel at least 72 hours before the start class in order to receive a full refund, to be issued within 14 days. If inclement weather is expected, Riley will contact students to reschedule to a suitable date. If a student is unable to attend a rescheduled class, they may transfer their registration to a different class or another person. Students are expected to arrive on time for class, arriving more than 10 minutes late means that you will miss important material. By signing up for a class, students acknowledge that they assume full responsibility for any injuries or damage that may occur during the class, and they release Riley from any liability. Photographs may be taken during class for promotional purposes. If a student does not want to be photographed they must notify Riley before the start of class. Students are expected to behave in a respectful and appropriate manner towards the artist and other students. Riley reserves the right to dismiss any student who behaves inappropriately, without a refund.
