Explore the fascinating world of solar-powered cyanotype printing! During this three-hour backyard class, students will learn about the process of creating cyanotypes on both paper and fabric before embarking on a nature walk around Powderhorn Park to collect plants and other materials to use in their artwork. Back at the backyard, we will use the sun’s light to create cyanotypes that incorporate the found objects we have gathered on our walk. By the end of class, students will have learned a centuries-old photographic process and created their own artwork to take home. Space is limited, register today!
Saturday, June 10, 11:00 am, in a backyard near the northwest corner of Powderhorn Park (address will be emailed before class).
Registration is $25 per student plus a materials fee of $7. All class materials are provided by the instructor.
Accessibility: This class takes place in a backyard with slightly uneven ground. Seating is available at the backyard. Our nature walk through Powderhorn Park will be about 1.3 miles and at a leisurely pace. The walk will be on streets and paved paths, and requires the use of stairs. We will stop for a bathroom break during our walk, otherwise the only restroom available during class is on the third floor of a private residence, accessible by stairs. Masks will be required indoors (if applicable) and may be required outdoors if requested.
